What is tagua, or vegetable ivory?
Tagua is the fruit of the tagua palm tree, which grows in the tropical regions of South America. The ripe seeds or nuts are dried in the sun for up to 2 years, making them hard. In terms of composition, tagua looks exactly like animal ivory. That is why tagua is also called vegetable ivory.
The dried tagua nut is very easy to edit and color. Thanks to the dyeing, the veined structure of the vegetable ivory becomes even more visible. This gives each jewel a unique natural look.
